Background

Balla Balla Red Poll Stud was established in 2003.
After purchasing "Balla Balla" we decided that we needed to stock it with cattle. Beef Week seemed the ideal time to view the different breeds of cattle to decide on what breed would best suit our needs.
After visiting a number of different studs we made up our mind that Red Polls were the way to go!

CattleCare

Balla Balla Red Poll Stud is Accredited with CattleCare Australia.
CATTLECARE is a series of checks and balances made by the producer during the many stages of livestock production.
If you think about it, most of the inputs to a farm have gone through some form of Quality Assurance. It is logical that the output of the farm - the very start of the food chain - should be based on the principles of Quality Assurance.

BreedPlan

BREEDPLAN is a modern genetic evaluation system for beef cattle breeders. It is based in Australia, with clients worldwide. BREEDPLAN offers bull breeders the potential to accelerate genetic progress in their herds, and to provide objective information on stock they sell to commercial breeders.

Johne's Disease

Balla Balla Red Poll Stud has Cattle MAP MN1 Status for Johne’s Disease.
Johne's disease is a serious wasting disease that affects a wide range of animals. In Australia it has been found in cattle, sheep, goats, deer, alpaca and llama. Infection with the organism that causes Johne's disease has been confirmed in a small number of kangaroos and wallabies. The significance of this finding is still being investigated.

Land for Wildlife

Land for Wildlife is a voluntary, non-binding program which encourages and supports landholders to provide habitat for native plants and animals on their property. It is a free, voluntary program, and landholders can leave at any time.
